Magnesium
It’s estimated that 85% of Americans are magnesium deficient.
At most 4% of the magnesium you take orally is available to your body.
Your body needs massive amounts of magnesium for over 300 enzyme processes.
The CDC once said that magnesium deficiency is so prevalent in this country and responsible for so many medical problems that physicians should be treating magnesium deficiency before they treat anything else.
The good news is this is an easy fix.
TOPICAL SPRAYS
Recommended: 500-600mg/day (Equals about 30-40 sprays with most bottles)
There is often dosing information on the bottle (for example: 4 sprays = 66mg). You can use that to calculate how many sprays you need.
You can buy sprays from us, in local stores, or online.
When shopping for a spray, read the ingredients and avoid any that are made from a brine. Brine tends to be highly irritating to the skin.
Unlink most supplements, with magnesium sprays you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get one that will work. $10-15/bottle is about the average, though some are considerably more. However, spending a little more will usually mean the spray is less likely to irritate the skin.
If you’re worried about irritation, be sure to watch the video How to Use Magnesium Topical Spray for some tips and tricks on getting started.
FOR SENSITIVE SKIN:
If you are known to have highly sensitive skin, easily prone to irritation, you may consider jumping right to this option. It’s the most expensive, but also the most refined, and very unlikely to irritate the skin.
Per the product information, this bottle delivers 22mg of magnesium per spray and recommends 25-50 sprays per day. That is in line with our recommendation of 500-600mg per day.
Magnesium Lotion
A magnesium lotion is a good option for anyone who isn’t interested in the spray, or can’t get it into a daily routine.
I haven’t recommended lotions in the past because it is difficult to find a lotion that has dosing information on the packaging. It’s important to know how much lotion to use in order to get an adequate dose of magnesium. There are products out there, but they can be hard to find.
If you would prefer a lotion, feel free to shop around. Just be sure to read the labels for dosing information. Once you find one, just calculate how much lotion you’ll need to use to get 500-600mg of magnesium.
I have found Earthely Wellness, and they make a wonderful magnesium lotion that I do recommend.
It is a wonderful supplement to the topical spray that does offer a dose of topical magnesium.
I don’t recommend that you use this lotion exclusively because you need quite a lot to reach an optimum dose. Not only will you run through this jar very quickly, but in large amounts the lotion is quite greasy.
Rather, it’s recommended to take a smaller amount of the lotion, add 10-15 sprays of magnesium to it, and use it that way. The lotion will last much longer, will rub in more completely, and will totally prevent any stinging or stickiness from the spray.
It’s available in two scents lavender scent as well as a limited-ingredient version for sensitive skin.

ORAL MAGNESIUM
Topical sprays work better. However, there are circumstances in which oral magnesium is required–either in addition to or in place of the topical spray.
I only recommend ONE oral option. Check out this short video to learn why oral magnesium can’t be used by your body.
After searching high and low, and trying many oral options, this is the only oral option I’ve found to work. That’s because it’s absorbed differently and very early.
It doesn’t taste the best, but if mixed with strawberry lemonade or similar, the taste is not detectable.
For anyone who has a hard time using the topical spray for any reason, this oral supplement is a good option.

Probiotics
Everyone needs a daily probiotic. You need a healthy balance of good bacteria to bad bacteria in your gut. Good bacteria dies off quickly and must be replaced daily. If it is not, the bad bacteria quickly take over, as those do not die off.
Over the years, we’ve found three good options for probiotics. If you would like help making a choice, you’re welcome to contact us. Otherwise, I invite you to read about these three options and get started using one.
MOST RECOMMENDED
For most people in most circumstances, we like the basic soil-based probiotic from RnAReset. It is shelf-stable and does not need to be refrigerated.

ANOTHER OPTION
Another top recommendation would be Garden of Life’s Dr. Formulated Probiotic. Read more about it here.
A COUPLE OF THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
-This item is refrigerated. It is usually not wise to order it online. You’ll have to pay for cold, one-day shipping, which is expensive, and if there is any shipping delay, the product is put at risk.
-Because it is refrigerated, it’s better to purchase this locally. King Soopers has the best price I’ve seen (beating out Sprouts and Whole Foods), and even better, the put it on sale every three or four months. If you watch for the sale, you can purchase several at the sale price and get through to the next sale.
-The item linked above, the “Immune + Colon” blend, is the best of the options in this line. It is recommended whether or not you’re specifically looking for “immune” or “colon” support. It has the strains of bacteria your gut really needs.
-The other blends available are only different in that they provide one or two strains less (not good), and include additives you don’t need (or need more of to be helpful).
-The shelf-stable options are not recommended as they do not offer nearly the same benefits.
